Sustainability

At Pian dei Ciclamini Lodge, sustainability is not a slogan — it’s a daily practice.

Our lodge is located inside the Julian Prealps Nature Park and within the UNESCO MAB Transboundary Biosphere Reserve. Every action we take is guided by respect for the environment, the local community, and future generations.

Environmental sustainability

  • We reduce our environmental impact by using local and seasonal ingredients in our kitchen. Over 80% of our ingredients come from regional suppliers.

  • Energy consumption is optimized thanks to low-consumption appliances, natural lighting, and heat planning based on real occupancy.

  • All lighting is LED. Water-saving systems are installed in toilets and showers.

  • Although we are connected to the grid, we operate in one of the rainiest areas in Italy. This allows us to use natural resources responsibly, with annual consumption constantly monitored.

  • We chose to permanently close the cross-country ski track due to snow scarcity and climate change, converting it into a nature trail with educational panels.

Social sustainability

  • We work closely with local schools to promote environmental education.

  • Our structure is fully accessible, including an inclusive “Trail for All”, equipped with tactile panels for visitors with disabilities.

  • We value inclusion: our staff receives regular training on sustainable practices and community engagement.

Economic sustainability

  • We focus on quality over quantity. Our model is based on balance, not mass tourism.

  • Our guests are part of the solution: by staying here, they support local farmers, producers, and artisans.

  • The lodge is part of a long-term public-private partnership aimed at regenerating remote mountain areas in a sustainable way.
